Pasture Life

Our young calves are enjoying their new pasture. I move their electric net fence forward a few feet each day to give them fresh forage to eat. They've already learned that I'm serving up a fresh meal and head my way when they see me enter their paddock.
Soon they'll learn that our dog Farine is as harmless in the air as he is on the ground. I managed to just dodge a mini-stampede seconds after I took this last picture. In the photo you can see the first two calves happily grazing while the last is turned away watching Farine decide to come check on me. He jumped the fence to join me and sent the three 100 lb spooked calves my way. The first two knew I was crouched there with my camera, but the last calf was as surprised to see me as he was to see a dog fly.
