Beef and dairy pasture walks are pretty common in this part of the state.
Grazing organizations often partner with
local government to put on talks hosted by grass-based farmers in the area. Other graziers gather to walk the pastures and learn from that farmer's experiences. It's a great way to share tips, evaluate new methods and get inspiration to take back to one's own farm.

Last week I was able to attend a hog pasture walk--the first I've ever seen advertised. It was the highlight of a day long workshop that included bacon and brat tastings and featured one of the few butchers in the state gaining a reputation for excellent naturally cured meats. It was fun to discover that this expert was our own
humble butcher!

I enjoyed the chance to see
another farm's pasture system and their very friendly hogs!
