Twins

A first lamb for this new mom and she knew just what to do--with none of the quizzical looks that some yearlings have. "Gosh, what's that?"

She picked out a good spot, waited for the ruckus caused by the neighbors' dogs who'd decided to take themselves on an adventure to subside and had her very first lamb. She cleaned it all off and made sure it nursed before having its twin. Some ewes prefer to have all their lambs first and then settle in to mothering them.

Normally we'd have green grass before our ewes lamb, but this ewe was bred when we purchased her. Next year she'll get to try lambing on a sunny pasture.

But the weather was nice and she had a fine pair of twins, even without the sunshine.
